A cure for cancer is within reach but those that still suffer through the disease at such young ages are changed forever. Help Kennedy make some of their wishes come true.
The living room is quickly filling up with ornaments already. The remaining beads Kennedy was waiting for arrived today so she will be in full production of ornaments by the end of this weekend. Today also marks the first order of the season! Thanks to everyone who has helped make Wind Wishes such a success in the past two years, and please keep spreading the word.

Happy New Year Everyone!
We are so please to announce that Wind Wishes has raised $1,000 through donations and the sale of ornaments this season on top of which we know many people have also chosen to make donations directly to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Children's Wish Foundation. Thank you all for your continued support! This fall has gone by so quickly, with so much to be thankful for! Me, well I'm thankful for my little girl - at 7 she has already blown me away with her kindness and caring for others. I can only hope that it is something we are able to continue to nurture and help her make the difference she wants to see in the world. Thank you to the Peterborough Examiner for their recent story, BMO at Portage Place for supporting sales of Wind Wishes again this year, and to Kruz FM for selecting Kennedy as a Kid With Class back in October. Please help us keep her wish going by passing on Kennedy's message to your friends and family. Stuck for ideas? How about a Wind Wishes ornament to share the gift of giving?
Order your ornaments soon. Another busy Fall is quickly turning into Winter, with Christmas just around the corner - please take the time to make your order today for your friends and family, what better way to show them you care by sharing a Wind Wishes ornament with each of them - they make great additions to the family tree and look perfect as gift toppers as well.
Tomorrow morning our girls will be turning pink and purple (hair that is) in support of Pedal for Hope here in Peterborough. To date they have raised a total of $961 for Pedal for Hope and $821 for the Children's Wish Foundation.
We couldn't be more proud of our girls helping others and can't wait to see what's in the works in the months to come. The Peterborough Pedal for Hope team will be rolling into our school on April 23rd. In honour of this year's campaign both our daughters will be dying their hair to raise additional funds to give to the Pedal for Hope team. Please consider a donation this to this worthy cause. The links to the girl's pledge sites are on the main page of our website and on their windwishes facebook page. Best wishes to the Pedal for Hope Team and all of the schools raising money this year for such a great cause. Thanks to all of you for your continued support of Wind Wishes. Today we heard from the Children's Wish Foundation and the proceeds raised for their foundation will be used towards granting a wish such as this one:
5 year old Ricky will be travelling to Disney World during March Break. Ricky was diagnosed with cancer in 2011. He is doing well now and almost done treatment. He is excited to go to the parks and especially to see his favourite character from Cars, Lightning McQueen. The family will be traveling for seven nights. They are going to get a 3 day pass to the Disney parks, two day pass to Universal Studios, and one day at Seaworld. He is staying at a very special resort called Give Kids the World Village www.gktw.org where he can eat ice cream all day if he likes! Christmas has come and gone, but Valentine's Day is just around the corner. If you haven't had a chance to order your spinners we have supplies left and are able to get some ready in time for Valentine's Day.
Watch for coming updates on new crafts for 2013 from wind wishes! As you could imagine there's been a lot of "wish" thinking around our house the past two months, from Wind Wishes to Santa Claus and even next year's birthday wishes have come a few months early.
We are so very proud of Kennedy for her idea and initiative in seeing this through. She has raised over $1,700 for something she believes in. I've joked with friends and family about the lack of feeling in my fingers from cutting the 18,000 strips (literally not an exaggeration) of plastic she has needed to create her 750 spinners she has sold, but I would do it (and from the sounds of it will be doing it) again in a heart beat to see her wish come true. I know this time together will be cherished memories in the years to come. From our family to yours, we wish you all the best for this Christmas Season. May you enjoy the time together with family and friends, and fill your heart with memories that will last a life time. |
